The following list of journals reflects those that are important to my field. Some I have been aware of for years, while others are new to me.
Open Access
The following journals are open access at least to some degree. If I were to publish, I would seek open access journals as my venue as openness is one of my core values as an educator.
- British Journal of Educational Technology: focuses on whether and how educational technology improves formal and non-formal education.
- Australasian Journal of Educational Technology: promotes research and scholarship on integrating technology in higher education.
- International Journal of Online Pedagogy and Course Design: focuses on improvement of online education.
- Canadian Journal of Learning and Technology: focuses on all aspects educational technology and learning.
- International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning: disseminates research, theory and best practice in open and distributed learning.
- European Journal of Open, Distance and E-Learning: publishes research on open, distance, online and e-learning in technology-enhanced education.
- OTESSA Journal: focuses on all aspects of educational technology.
- Italian Journal of Educational Technology: publishes significant and original theoretical perspectives, review articles, methodological developments, empirical research and best practice in the field of education and technology
- Education Sciences: provides inclusive and equitable access to research globally.
- Journal of Teaching and Learning with Technology: explores efforts to enhance student learning in higher education through the use of technology.
- Asian Association of Open Universities Journal: publishes new information, knowledge, evaluations of theories or best practices of Open and Distance Education.
Hybrid
- The Journal of the Learning Sciences: publishes multidisciplinary research on teaching and learning to inform learning theories and design.
- New Zealand Journal of Educational Studies: multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach aims to nurture and promote educational research.
- Technology, Knowledge and Learning: emphasizes the increased interest in context-aware adaptive and personalized digital learning environments.
- Journal of Perspectives in Applied Academic Practice: publishes research and practice development in higher and further education.
- Learning: Research and Practice: publishes research in the learning sciences, including educational research, learning and instruction, educational psychology, and educational technology.
Closed Access
- Educational Technology Research and Development: claims to be the sole journal devoted to educational technology research and development.
- International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning: focuses on research related to online collaboration so limited applicability to my context.
